Welcome to Ratemyhagwon!

Since we started, we have been actively shaping the way our readers access news, information, and jobs in Korea. Over the past two years we’ve learned a few things or two. For one thing, school or hagwon blacklists are passe. From the standpoint of a new instructor looking for insight into a potential school or private academy, the information in blacklists often lead to dead-ends and uncertain conclusions. As one poster once wrote, “The hagwon, as a business entity, exists in a fast moving private education industry where its people and content are constantly in flux. One teacher’s bad experience at one school in one year could be the best experience with a new team in the next.”

This was the very reason why we successfully created the industry’s first white list, and through its Yelp-styled review system, gave teachers a better way to review and discuss their employers. This system is currently absent from our pages as we develop better tools for rating and evaluating teaching jobs.
