Taco Papa @ Hapjeong | Grand Opening Fail

This review would sound just like a rant against a random incident that happened to me while I was buying tacos at the grand opening of Cusco’s Taco Papa, located near Hapjeong Station (line no.2).  But then again, considering the adjusshi instigating the incident is the owner’s father and he was sitting with his buddies out on the stoop harassing take-out customers for hours, it might be pertinent information.  Hence, the title.  They can only do better from the first day, right?

As for the food, the tacos al pastor are a bit soggier and cooler than the tacos you find at Dos Tacos in Hongdae and Chois Tacos in Shinchon. Is this what al pastor means?  I had difficulty holding the wrap together, either because of the uneven nature of the veggies inside or from “first-day jitters” wrapping.

The rest of the menu is simple, comprised of papa rellena (potato croquets) and three kinds of cheese quesadillas. The menu is also very easy to remember since all the entrees cost W3000.  Ice coffee is W1000.  Cass in bottles.

The concept of the restaurant is Latin American / Peruvian, but unlike their parent restaurant Cusco, located on the 2nd floor of the same building, they cater mainly to Take-Out customers who walk along Soho Street (소호거리) from Hongdae.

This reviewer’s recommendation:
The tacos are what Joe’s Sandwich is to sandwiches.  A snack.  I’m thinking this might be a better option, but when!
Steer clear of old guys, a.k.a. “management,” who hang out drunk on the stoop.
