Not since the death of the Blade franchise have guys 18-34 paid much attention to vampires.  But after studios heard the collective sighs of millions of teenage girls when Twilight lead Rob Pattinson appeared on-screen, it was in no short order studios began formulating an answer to bring sexy back to vamp.

Their response will arrive soon with a comely dark-haired vampiress by way of South Korean actress Jun Ji-hyun, who debuts under her Westernized screen name, Gianna Jun.   She stars as the protagonist, Saya, in Blood: The Last Vampire, which was filmed in China and Argentina in 2007 and was directed by Chris Nahon (Kiss of the Dragon, 2001).

Coming to South Korean screens on June 11

The Korea Herald reports Jun stating at a news conference on May 12 in Seoul, that she chose a hardcore action movie as her international movie debut in an apparent desire to analyze herself as an actress.

A major point of discussion, as far as her future prospects in the overseas movie business, was her ability to speak and communicate in English.  Some naysayers (aka haters) have placed her as another forgettable face doomed by English, while others have described her ‘exotic, attractive, or genuine’ looks as having the potential to succeed.

The movie will be released in the U.S. in July.
