Aiming to Break Stereotype, John Cho Plays Sulu?

Korean-American actor John Cho was awesome in Harold & Kumar (NSFW), and he was pretty sharp in the Koreatown flick, West 32nd. But on his way to stardom, does something about the title of the Korea Times article throw you for a loop?  “Aiming to break stereotype,” Cho reprises the role of another Asian actor (George Takei) who made a breakthrough as Sulu in the 1970s Star Trek television series.

Props to John Cho for landing a solid role, but tell us he’s ”breaking a stereotype” when after playing Sulu in J.J. Abrams’ restart of Star Trek  his career doesn’t end as, “He’s that Sulu 2.0 guy.”
