My Steak Tastes a Little Deja Moo

“Honey, my steak tastes great, but it’s like I’ve eaten this over and over again.”

With genetically modified cows offering up identical cuts of beef with identical flavors, that’s likely what we’ll be saying in the near future.

Welcome to the age of cloned cattle which South Korean scientists say will one day bring the finest flavored beef into the market, healthier, and at reduced cost to the consumer.   Research is also being conducted on genetically enhanced rice, called “golden rice.”   It gets its appearance from high amounts of vitamin-A engineered into its basic structure.

This brings to mind any number of dystopian movies where a character mentions how plain everyone becomes when everyone is special.  Will future meals taste great the first time, and bland every time afterwards?
