Medics to Ask, “How are you?” in English
If you are unfortunate enough to get into a situtation where you need emergency medical attention in a foreign land, the language barrier can be a difficult if not dangerous complication.
The Seoul Metropolitan Government has begun to issue guide booklets with common medical terms in English so that emergency medical personnel can quickly assess the problems when encountering foreigners. This is a commendable measure, but we hope there is also adequate training involved in practical application and simulation. Or else, we might have a situation, like this one from Welcome to Dongmakol, in the future:
